At our Southern Champion Team rally, the Champion Team from JMSF reported that they were working with Cop 2 Cop to provide assistance to officers experiencing stress on the job. Mental Health treatment reduces involvement with juvenile justice system

It's probably no surprise to hear that early intervention in mental health issues can reduce contact with the juvenile justice system, but it's always good to have evidence to support what most of us believe from our experience. A program in Illinois that tracked 700 kids found just that.

"The results of the evaluation reveal that early diagnosis and treatment of mental illness among those youth who have been in contact with the justice system results in a significant decrease in future contact with law enforcement."

Champion Team Training Feedback!

Thanks to all of you who attended our Champion Team rallies last week! I thought you might be interested to see what some of the feedback was from the events. If you've got some additional thoughts to share, please register as a user (your info stays confidential) and leave a comment.

Suggestions:
Needs to be a 2-day training.
2-days.
Administrators should be mandated to attend.
Fundraising section was good but wasn’t geared for our group.
Steering Committee work/efforts communicated to teams.
Working through lunch
Change tactic – stressing goals is getting old.
Get more administrators to attend.
More training in mental health issues and staff stress reduction.
Keep Roy on the team!
Come train our staff again.
Have this training once every three months.
Focus prior to this meeting on having administrators accepting and supporting their facility with the Champion Team.
Didn’t feel grant writing was helpful.
Make it longer.
