New NCMHJJ Research and Program Brief on Trauma

As I've been out training in all of your facilities this year, the topic of trauma and how it affects the youth we work with continues to be an important discussion. Next year through CSRE, training will be available on this topic with special emphasis on strategies for working with traumatized youth.

Until then, please take a look at the following:

The National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice has released its latest Research and Program Brief entitled “Trauma Among Youth in the Juvenile Justice System: Critical Issues and New Directions”. This new brief provides an overview of trauma among justice-involved youth. It also review tools as well as strategies and curricula on how to address trauma related issues among this population.
