This Resource Directory is a product of Safe Start, a project of the Violence Institute of New Jersey at UMDNJ. Safe Start is funded by the Federal Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in order to create a multi-agency integrated response to address the needs of families and children who have been exposed to violence. Safe Start works in collaboration with over 40 agencies to establish linkages and decrease barriers to services so that the needs of families can be addressed in a comprehensive fashion.
Safe Start, with the guidance of its planning board, has prepared this Resource Directory as part of our mission to improve access to community resources for the people of Newark. Newark is rich in a wide array of community services and dedicated individuals whose goal it is to support and nurture the well being of its residents. In order for the existence of such services to translate into the betterment of lives, people need to be able to locate and connect with these services. With this goal in mind, Safe Start has compiled what we believe is a comprehensive and easy-to-use directory of community resources in Newark, focusing on agencies serving residents of the Newark’s West Police District.
We welcome your comments and input so that we may keep this Directory up to date and relevant to the needs of its users.
